Low Key with Aaron...

It's been far too long since I've updated, but December was the craziest month. Well, truth be told, it's been a crazy semester for that matter. We had a major assignment in "Tonal Harmony" following up on the practice assignments that we had earlier (including the High Key images of the kids). I wanted to get some up on here because I'm so darn pleased with myself.

My friend Aaron was kind enough to model for me for this assignment, and I think overall it went incredibly well. My instructor was quite pleased as well, and I hope you will be too. Enjoy!

High Key

It's been forever since I've posted, and it's because I've been busy with school and work, and the odd photo gig along the way.

At school, we were given an assignment, so please enjoy my first attempt at High Key Photography (I may have had some before, though I was playing around back then. This time I actually had an idea of how to produce the look I wanted.)

Rina was nice enough to bring her kids out for the experience and we got some very cute results.

Josephine obviously likes the spotlight and seemed to have a lot of fun with it. Her brother Col was a little more reluctant to look at the camera, but he perked up a bit when I asked him about his favourite dinosaur and asked him "What does a T-Rex sound like?"

After the kids were wrapped up, I even took a few minutes to snap a few shots of their mom, Rina as we're in the midst of learning different portrait lighting techniques.

Hope you like them! Please leave comments!

Brooklyn Dines 50s Style...

So it's been awhile since I've had a chance to post. School and life in general has been the cause. Sorry! But here I am now, and I figured I should post a few of these since they were so much fun to do anyway! My dear friend Brooklyn was moving away to pursue scholastic and artistic type pursuits, so we met at a little 50s style diner to toast to her good luck (with milkshakes!) and have one last photo shoot.

Enjoy! Comments please!

Preview - Meagan's Baby Bump!

It's old news by now, only in that Meagan's had her baby and no longer has the bump to show off (but one could argue she has something much better to show off now :) ) but on the actual day she was due, we finally got around to shooting her Baby Bump Pictures. While perhaps ready to be done being pregnant and slightly uncomfortable, it didn't come across as we worked. Hope you enjoy!

Gardiner Dam

On a recent trip to Saskatoon, I decided to make a detour on the way back. I've been meaning to go to Gardiner Dam for the last couple of years, but just didn't have the chance. This time, however, being left to my own devices, I decided that it was time. And I had the time, so get out there! Especially since the weather was great (if incredibly windy). The skies were perfect.

Hope you enjoy! Comments please! :)

Saskatoon Potash Corp Fireworks Festival!

I happened to be going up to Saskatoon to do some portraits for a separate project, but knew that the Saskatoon Fireworks Festival would be going on the weekend I wanted to head up the highway. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone and hang around an extra day. I love shooting fireworks - you can get some really cool effects. These have not been edited at all. No cropping, no colour enhancements, no superimpositions.

Enjoy!
