On a recent trip to Saskatoon, I decided to make a detour on the way back. I've been meaning to go to Gardiner Dam for the last couple of years, but just didn't have the chance. This time, however, being left to my own devices, I decided that it was time. And I had the time, so get out there! Especially since the weather was great (if incredibly windy). The skies were perfect.
I happened to be going up to Saskatoon to do some portraits for a separate project, but knew that the Saskatoon Fireworks Festival would be going on the weekend I wanted to head up the highway. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone and hang around an extra day. I love shooting fireworks - you can get some really cool effects. These have not been edited at all. No cropping, no colour enhancements, no superimpositions.
Knowing I'd be heading to Alberta to visit, I bullied my cousin Cara into bringing something pretty to wear so I could shoot some portraits of her. "Why?" She asked. "Why not." The logical answer. Plus, everyone should have pictures of themselves when they're all prettied up! Well, maybe she wouldn't have dressed up without encouragement, but hey, I'm not in Alberta all the time!
