Catching up, Cathedral Arts Fest, and... Catching up.

Like the subject line suggests, I'm somewhat behind at the moment. For those who hadn't heard (which might have been difficult, I was telling... well, everyone) I was in New York City for 8 days last week. New York is a crazy, crazy town. And while I will be posting pictures at some point, the craziness of the last month has me in a bit of a tizzy trying to get caught up with lots of things.

If I hadn't mentioned before, SIAST is trying to shut our program down. Those of us who just finished our first year are being allowed to finish, but we will still be deeply impacted by this decision if we are not able to turn things around in the coming year. So that took up a lot of my time for awhile there. The battle is far from over, but we've rallied some troops who are helping out.

Apart from that I had, you know, school to think about! Taking a week off to do some crusading took somewhat of a toll and I had to take a few extra days to get my school work done. But I _did_ get done eventually, and I think I did a good job. Will have to check my marks to be sure!

I did a week of Work Experience too with Vienna - a fantastic photographer who is a graduate of our program and, conveniently, works just across the street from me. We did a wedding shoot, some work for a custom jeweler here in Regina, and we even did a super fun Fashion Shoot too! I have a couple of shots to tempt you with here...





Olivia is a professional model. She's done work overseas and you could tell the difference. Not that it can't be tons of fun to work with non-professionals, but she definitely turned on the ZAZZ and gave me different looks for each frame. These photos haven't been touched up yet, btw, other than, perhaps, the contrast and clarity somewhat.

The work placement was great. Vienna was awesome to work with and gave me some new perspectives.

And then? New Yooorrrrk! Seriously, the city that never sleeps... should sleep. Preferably when I'm trying to take pictures. I could never live there, but I recommend it as an experience to everyone. Especially photographers. It might just be worth it, however, to make most of your outings at 6am for the public buildings you want to shoot. That, or go with a group of photographers who can run interference for you because they know your plight! You can rarely find a place that doesn't have SOME people around.

I have so much more to say about NY, but I am now trying to get things ready for the Cathedral Arts Festival, and trying to catch up on the photo shoots from before I left. So this is just to let y'alls know that I'm still working on the craft, you just can't quite see the results yet :)

In the meantime, I need to run, because I do need to sleep periodically. So stay tuned. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will get caught up. Oh! And if you have nothing better to do on Saturday, Come on down!
